The first Latinamerican Workshop on Optimization and Control will take took place in Quito, Ecuador, from the 7th to the 9th July 2008. The event hosted leading latinamerican researchers in the areas of optimization and control. Invited talks from outstanding international scientists and contributing presentations took place.

One aim of the workshop wais to present latinamerican scientific contributions to these areas of knowledge and enhance the scientific collaboration among the participants.
